10 Things I Love About Myself

I went to a Youth Church for the first time today and I did enjoy service! Proof I did is this impromptu article. There was a section during the service called "SCHOOL OF WISDOM where we discussed about the mind. During the talk, we were asked to write down 10 things we liked and did not like about ourselves and I just thought to share it with you and then it occurred to me that we’re going to be doing this every Sunday! I’ll share everything I learnt during service with y’all starting today!

So here are 10 things I like about myself (took me a while to pen them down though).

  1. I like the fact that I love God and only want to do what will make Him happy.
  2. I like the fact that I consider other people's feelings in whatever I want to do.
  3. I like the fact that I'm quick to apologize when I realize my mistakes.
  4. I don't like stress; I constantly look for easy ways to get out of things and situations (believe it or not, it’s a good thing. The kind of stress I’m referring to is why wash with my hands when they sell washing machine in the market?)
  5. I really want all my friends to win (imagine having a circle of successful individuals, going on vacations and traveling the world together? What could be sweeter?)
  6. I forgive easily (not all forgiveness comes easy so I try to go through it at first and then let go later). I thought I wasn't holding someone in my heart until I was discussing with my mom and she mentioned it. What’s interesting is that I heard what some people (family members precisely) she’d helped said to her and just by the hearing of their names, my chest tightens. I didn’t realize I was still hurt because it’s been well over a year and going to the second year already. I genuinely forgave them on the spot and I can say with my full chest that I don't have enemies (meaning as of now, I have nothing against anyone).
  7. I'm quick to take corrections, suggestions and advices from the Holy Spirit because it has always saved my life (nah me know wetin my eye see when I no listen [I’m aware of what I passed through when I didn’t listen to Him]).
  8. I'm quick to say please and thank you.
  9. I’m a huge fan of that Scripture, “Do unto others what you want them to do unto you.” (Matthew 7:1)
  10. I loveee myself! (you know not how much I love ME!)

10 things I don’t like about myself

  1. When something is supposed to be done but I still don't do it (just because I don’t feel like).
  2. I can be stubborn sometimes.
  3. I procrastinate at times because I might not have the complete resource to do what should be done when I can actually start with what I have.
  4. I don't know how to beg (for lack of a better word) people (didn't know this was a bad thing until a friend brought my attention to it). Thing is, if I ask for something once and you don't give me, I might beg 2/3 times (emphasis on might), but after that, that's the end. I'll find another way.
  5. As much as I love myself, I don’t eat well (I have no words),
  6. I can be extremely lazy and extremely hardworking depending on my mind.
  7. I can be saucy at times.

(I’m not sure I can go further. I think this is it.)

Take a pause. Can you successfully write down 10 things you like and do not like about yourself?? I want to know if I'm the only one who had a hard time writing these things. Let me know in the comment section when you're done writing.

What To do To Build Your Mind

  1. Meditation (Joshua 1:8) when you're by yourself and place your mind on what to do. Get rid of the streams of thoughts that clouds your mind and focus on one thing per time not juggling so many things.
  2. Moment: fuels the energy, balances sugar levels. It increases resilience to stress, improves sleep and enhances our mood. When we move our body, energy flows through it and the brain produces various happy hormones that makes us feel good. Exercise, skip, do push-up, dance, run etc. (I took a walk back home from church because I needed it).
  3. Morning pages: sit down and pour out your thoughts in the book. Everything in your head when you wake up. Pour everything. It clears your mind so you can fill your mind with what you want to be there. It helps to filter your mind and allows you think what you want.

PS: Don't go back to it or read it again.

Also, it could be “Night Pages” instead. Pen down the good and bad things that happened during the day. Pen the good things on a different page and do the same for bad things.

There's more suggestions, check online.

Someone said and I quote; “If someone does something bad to you, write it on the sand so when the wind blows, it blows it away and you forget but when it's a good thing, write it on a rock so when the wind blows, it'll stay and you’ll remember.

Something extra

I learnt a new language in church today.
