Did you know? (Part 3)

Just in case you've not read the second part, check it out here...

  1. When Israel went to war with the Philistines, no one had a sword or spear except King Saul and his son Jonathan. The Philistines had a monopoly on iron weapons.

  8. There are 185 Songs in the Bible including chants, hymns and dirges. The majority of these are in Psalms, which is partly why it is the longest book
  9. The word “Psalm” comes from the Greek “Psalmos,” meaning “song sung on a harp.” The psalms were authored by King David, who often played the harp.
  10. Chapters and verses were added to the Bible for convenience. Our modern Old Testament verses were done by the Ben Asher family around 900 AD. And our modern verses for the New Testament were created by Robert Stephanus. He divided the Greek text into verses in 1551.
  11. The Book with the most chapters is the Book Psalms. While per word, the Book of Jeremiah in it’s original language of Hebrew has over 42,000 words which makes it the longest Book of the Bible.
  12. Prophet Isaiah walked around naked and barefoot for the three years (Isaiah 20:3).
  13. Paul dictated some letters for someone to write while he wrote some himself (Romans 16:22).

  15. A voice came from Heaven asides when Jesus was baptized and on the mount of transfiguration (John 12:28).
  16. Thomas is a twin (John 21:2)
  17. Jesus Himself made the statement, for God so loved the world. (It might not be a new discovery to you but I never knew Jesus made that statement).
  18. Salome, the mother of James and John is Mary’s (mother of Jesus) sister/half-sister.
  19. Jesus wasn't flogged with just any whip. It was ladled with lead (Matthew 27:26)
  20. Noah’s Ark had more than just 2 of each animals. There were 7 pairs of every clean animal in the ark and 2 of every unclean animal (Genesis 7:2-3)
