NEW YOU RESOLUTION
Becca peeped over Isaac's head trying to see what he was
writing. He was so engrossed with his writing he didn't hear her come in.
“What are you writing?" She inquired still stretching
her neck over his head with squinted eyes.
He shook in fear knocking things over and turned back
sharply.
“How many times do I have to tell you never to come into my
room uninvited? Don't you know how to knock??" He asked irritated.
Becca chewed plantain chips noisily. Both her palms were
filled with them as she threw them in her mouth and chewed noisily.
“I said what are you writing?" She replied without
paying attention to his question.
“Why are you in my room?" Isaac reiterated his question
and stood from his chair; standing over her like he was going to devour her.
She wasn't moved. She stared up at her brother who was 4ft
tall and she, 3ft.
“I didn't hear from you since after lunch and I decided to
come check up on you." She replied throwing more chips in her mouth. Then
she extended her palms to him.
“You want some?" She added.
“The only thing I want is that you get your annoying self
outta my room this instant!" He declared, arms folded and wearing a frown.
“Bro, it's a new year. You should be nicer."
“It's good you know it's a new year. You should be
wiser." He raised a brow.
“Ouch! That's quite harsh." Becca frowned slightly.
“If you think that hurts, how about I smack you?!"
Isaac threatened.
“I know you won't and you know I won't leave until I know
what you're writing." She answered and took a comfortable seat on his
average sized bed.
“I can't believe we have the same parents." He lamented
and took a short sigh while wearing a tiring face.
“You should. You have to live with it." She replied.
“So what were you writing?"
“None of." Isaac replied and turned to his table. He
picked up the papers he'd been writing on and stacked them together.
“What is none of?"
“None of your business!"
”Why are you been so hostile this afternoon?"
“Because you're just being a pain in my behind!" He
replied turning to her and giving her an evil look.
“But you know I'm not going to leave without my answer,
right?" Becca asked and gave him a clownish smile.
He sighed deeply and eased his shoulders.
“What day is it today?"
“Sunday."
“The exact date I mean."
“2nd of January."
“Good. So I'm guessing you've started working on your new
year's resolution, right?"
“You've not answered my question." Becca frowned.
“If you need an answer, you're going to have to answer mine
first." It was Isaac's turn to smile.
“Fine. Yes I've written them out. So?"
“Can I hear them?" He asked wearing a smirk.
“Of course not! They're personal!"
“If you can't share yours, I can't share mine!" Isaac
wore a full smile.
“So you're just writing your new year's resolution?"
She asked unimpressed.
“Nope."
“So then what?"
“It is personal!"
“You're just being a baby..." Becca smirked.
“My 16 year old sister calling me, her 20 year old brother a
baby! Goodness gracious!" Isaac clapped in laughter.
“What is so personal about your new year resolution??"
“Becca, you have overstayed your welcome in my room. It's
time to go!" Isaac replied arms akimbo.
“Fine..." Becca rose from the bed and stretched.
Suddenly, she grabbed the stacked papers and made for the door but her brother
was faster. However, she was swifter and in a second, she was at the other side
of the bed.
“Becca! Don't make me mad at you!" Isaac was going red.
She began reading it out
“I will be nicer," she huffed. “Indeed!"
“I will go out more... I will work on my temper... He knows
he has a light temper."
“Becca!" Isaac bawled.
To be continued...
